Admenta Italia S.p.A aligns 162 pharmacies with new tracking laws using Datalogic

Admenta Italia S.p.A., an Italian holding company managing 162 communal pharmacies, faced a challenge when a new law mandated the tracking of pharmaceutical packages through a central database. This required pharmacies to scan an additional ministerial bar code on prescription pads, a capability their existing systems lacked. To comply with the new tracking requirements, Admenta turned to vendor Datalogic for a solution using their Heron™ Desk scanners.

Datalogic implemented its Heron Desk 'Farma model' scanners, which were pre-configured with software to read and concatenate the multiple bar codes on the new prescription forms. The solution provided high first-pass read rates and visual good-read confirmation via patented 'Green Spot' technology. As a result, all 162 of Admenta's pharmacies achieved compliance with the ministerial decree. The pharmacists reported the devices were efficient, easy to use, and effectively integrated into their workflow.
