Waitrose & Partners, one of the UK’s leading food retailers, needed to keep checkout queues moving and reduce customer wait times across its branches. To improve the checkout experience, the company turned to Datalogic and its fixed-position Magellan scanner/scale solutions, including the Magellan 8200 series.
Datalogic implemented 5-sided, 360° scanning with OmegaTek productivity technology, helping Waitrose read poorly printed, damaged, reflective, or irregularly shaped bar codes faster and more reliably. The result was quicker checkouts, less time spent repositioning items, and highly dependable performance across around 2,900 deployed scanner/scales, supporting space-saving checkout design and a smoother customer experience.
