A DataLog Finance Case Study
Danone, a global food group present in 120 countries, faced the challenge of centralising and securing "risky" manual paper and international payments from roughly 80 subsidiaries while preserving a Notes-based approval workflow. To achieve this, Danone selected DataLog Finance and its CashPooler solution in 1997 to provide client/server payment functions, signature/validation via Lotus Notes, and a centralised treasury process that could manage FX, liquidity and counterparty risk.
DataLog Finance implemented CashPooler to centralise payments (headquarters pays "on behalf of" subsidiaries), add netting and pooling, and integrate with ERP systems; by 2001 Danone had euro pooling (since 1999) and multi-currency pooling across 19 currencies, covering 30 countries and 74 subsidiaries. The project rapidly delivered a substantial ROI, sharply reduced banking costs, consolidated 20–30 electronic banking solutions into one tool, improved regulatory oversight (IFRS/SOX) and simplified ERP‑to‑bank interfaces — outcomes enabled by DataLog Finance’s solution.
