Case Study: L’Oreal achieves optimized knowledge management and HR empowerment with Dataiku

A Dataiku Case Study

Preview of the L’Oreal Case Study

How L'Oreal's HR Uses Dataiku to Optimize Cross Disciplinary Knowledge Transfer & Optimize Productivity

L’Oreal, the world’s largest cosmetics company with about 77,000 employees and an Operations division of roughly 20,000, wanted to turn its internal Yammer social network (23,000 voluntary users) into a true knowledge‑sharing platform. To improve knowledge transmission and the quality of conversations across global teams, the Operations HR team needed to identify conversation leaders and encourage business‑knowledge transfer, so they engaged Dataiku and its Data Science Studio (DSS).

Using Dataiku’s DSS, L’Oreal built an application that automatically ingests Yammer data, visualizes conversational flows and dynamic interactions, and applies clustering models to surface opinion leaders. The DSS solution—now governed and used daily by L’Oreal Operations HR—identified three leader types (platform brokers, group brokers, and dealers), enabled daily monitoring, and helped convert Yammer into an effective knowledge‑transfer tool, resulting in improved operational efficiency and team productivity.
