How Chronopost Uses Dataiku to Optimize Production Costs & Develop New Commercial Offers

Chronopost, a member of the La Poste group that handled 102.2 million packages in 2013, needed to guarantee next-day, by-1pm deliveries even during peak periods like Christmas. To better use historical tracking and geographic data for operational decisions, Chronopost adopted Dataiku’s Data Science Studio (DSS) to analyze delivery patterns and improve on-time performance across France and internationally.

Using Dataiku, Chronopost built a custom DSS application that automatically generates an ease-of-delivery score per address by aggregating historical delivery/pickup and geographic data, then iterates with new deliveries. The Dataiku solution increased BI team productivity, enabled optimized delivery routes and lower production costs, and supported new commercial offers (e.g., guaranteed delivery before 1pm or 8am) while maintaining consistent service quality.
