The Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) operates 66 high-precision antennas at 5,000 m altitude and produces up to 5 TB of scientific data every day, but historically lacked a unified analytics and data-science architecture to turn its extensive housekeeping logs and operational data into actionable insight. To address fragmented data access and limited analytics capability, ALMA partnered with Dataiku to modernize its data science stack.

Using Dataiku, ALMA connected its full data pipeline—including eight years of housekeeping logs—so scientists, engineers, and technicians can collaborate on shared workflows, move beyond basic KPIs, and develop prescriptive analytics for operations.
