Case Study: Fitch Ratings achieves faster data understanding and analyst self-service with Dataedo

A Dataedo Case Study

Preview of the Fitch Ratings Case Study

Fitch Ratings catalogs data and shares knowledge with Dataedo

Fitch Ratings, a global credit ratings provider, struggled with “tribal” knowledge about its databases that left most data understanding concentrated in IT and made even simple queries slow to develop. To democratize metadata and accelerate analyst work, Fitch engaged Dataedo to catalog and document their data assets, using Dataedo’s metadata repository and documentation export capabilities to publish information to analysts.

Dataedo ingested Fitch’s Oracle (1,034 tables; 8 schemas) and MySQL (38 tables; 1 schema) systems into a centralized metadata repository, enabling the Data Governance team to create and publish Confluence/HTML/PDF documentation for analysts. As a result, analysts can refine queries faster, work more independently of IT, and achieve quicker turnarounds on requests; Fitch is expanding coverage across the company and plans to leverage upcoming business-glossary functionality from Dataedo.
