A DataDome Case Study
DirectVelo, a non-profit and the leading French website for cycling news, faced repeated traffic spikes from bad bots—especially web scrapers—that slowed page loads and even made the site unavailable during live event coverage. To address this, DirectVelo turned to DataDome and its protection service to identify and stop malicious bot traffic.
DataDome ran a two-week Traffic Quality Report and then, working with host ATE, activated its protection, which immediately reduced bad bot traffic (scraping software accounted for 783,636 hits) and restored site performance. With DataDome automated blocking in place, DirectVelo avoided new server deployments and costs, spent less time involving hosting support, and freed the team to optimize infrastructure and produce more content.
