A Datadog Case Study
Airbnb, the global community-driven hospitality marketplace, faced a growing operations challenge as it moved to a service-based architecture. Separate engineering teams and a patchwork of open-source and bespoke monitoring tools produced fragmented dashboards and noisy alerts, making it hard to scale incident response and ensure 24×7 site reliability where engineers are responsible for fixing their own services.
Airbnb adopted Datadog and PagerDuty to centralize metrics and incident management—collecting and correlating data from about 15 systems into Datadog dashboards and routing aggregated incidents through PagerDuty. The integration streamlined on-call workflows, cut alert noise, improved routing to the right engineers, increased infrastructure visibility, and reduced resolution times, resulting in higher uptime and better scalability.
