Case Study: Revinate achieves infrastructure-wide visibility and accurate capacity planning with Datadog

A Datadog Case Study

Preview of the Revinate Case Study

Gaining infrastructure-wide visibility in a private OpenStack cloud

Revinate, a SaaS provider of guest feedback and mobile marketing tools for hotels, runs its platform in a Rackspace Private Cloud built on OpenStack. Rapid growth to 25 physical servers and 400 virtual instances left the operations team with only infrequent, crude utilization metrics, making capacity planning and root-cause troubleshooting unreliable and time-consuming.

Revinate adopted Datadog to instrument the full stack, creating custom, correlated dashboards and alert thresholds (e.g., 80% memory) to measure resource use accurately and plan capacity with confidence (average memory was 70%). Datadog also sped troubleshooting—identifying staggered PostgreSQL backups as the cause of firewall overload—and enabled service-level dashboards that improved productivity, performance and ongoing cost control.
