Case Study: SNCF achieves a single source of truth and faster issue detection with Datadog

A Datadog Case Study

Preview of the SNCF Case Study

Datadog helps SNCF take high-speed track to digital transformation

SNCF, France’s state-owned railway and a global provider of transportation and software services, began a 2016 digital transformation to migrate most applications to the cloud and adopt PaaS and containers. The effort was hampered by fragmented monitoring—11 different tools with incompatible configurations and poor visibility into containerized and cloud-native environments—creating silos that slowed incident detection and collaboration.

SNCF standardized on Datadog (Infrastructure Monitoring, Log Management, APM), migrating 4,800 servers (2,000 production), 655 applications and 13,000 containers in eight months to create a single source of truth. The cloud-native platform improved end-to-end visibility (including AKS), sped mean-time-to-identify, expanded monitoring access from 150 to 2,300 users, helped prevent incidents, and enabled faster, more collaborative delivery across teams.
