RVM Inc., a legal technology and eDiscovery services provider, needed to migrate millions of files from a Hitachi BlueARC NAS to a new Dell EMC Isilon system. The challenge was that its existing tools could not accurately determine the true scale of the environment, and the migration had to be completed within a tight 24–48 hour downtime window without disrupting business operations. Datadobi’s DobiMigrate was selected as the NAS migration solution.

Using Datadobi’s DobiMigrate, RVM Inc. first gained a full scan of its environment and discovered it had 434 million files totaling 66.5 TB. Datadobi then enabled a fast, efficient migration with high parallelization, successfully moving all critical data and cutting over within the required timeframe, with little downtime and no unscheduled disruption. The project also helped contain overall costs and delivered the ROI benefits of the new Isilon platform.
