WOS Speeds Post-Production Workflow with Highly Available, Scalable & Cost-Effective Active Archiving

Deluxe Entertainment Services Group’s Deluxe Creative Services is a global post‑production provider supporting major studios, networks and VFX teams across multiple cities and virtual sites. Facing exponential growth in unstructured media—typical feature films generate 300–500 TB of raw camera masters with up to 50 MB per frame—Deluxe needed faster, more flexible global access and selective replication of large datasets; legacy LTO tape archives were too slow and SAN/NAS approaches were either too costly or not scalable.

Deluxe deployed DataDirect Networks’ WOS object storage paired with ASG’s ADA active‑archiving software (eight WOS nodes and an ADA platform with four data movers), creating a scale‑out active archive that moves data at high throughput (ADA streams ~1.7 GB/s per mover). The solution delivered fast, globally distributed access and selective replication, reduced administrative overhead versus tape, SAN‑level bandwidth at lower TCO, improved collaboration and faster production turnarounds, and a scalable foundation anticipated to grow to multiple petabytes.
