A DataDirect Networks Case Study
Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office, the nation’s third-largest sheriff’s department with 7,500–10,000 inmates and one of the most-visited law enforcement websites, faced an aging, tape‑based video system that was unreliable and slow. The legacy platform could take as long as 60 days to retrieve a month of footage, lacked alerts, and could not scale to capture petabytes of HD data from thousands of IP cameras across multiple facilities.
The county deployed a fully integrated solution—Genetec VMS, Bosch HD cameras, Sierra Detention Systems integration and DDN Storage Fusion Architecture—to replace disparate systems with a single, redundant platform. The rollout delivered more than 3,000 cameras, 15 fps HD recording with 60‑day retention, 100% coverage across six facilities, retrieval speeds 10× faster (e.g., 12 hours of HD in 17 minutes), scalable storage up to 30 PB, reduced litigation costs and improved PREA compliance.
