Zero Downtime Since 2010 Powering Mission-Critical Applications for the City of Carme

The City of Carmel-by-the-Sea needed a flexible, cost-effective storage foundation for its move from physical servers to virtual infrastructure, with strong redundancy for high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity. Working with DataCore Software and its software-defined storage, the city wanted to protect mission-critical services used by departments like police and fire from any downtime.

DataCore Software implemented mirrored storage across two geographically separate sites, supporting more than 80 virtual servers and enabling automatic failover, resynchronization, and failback without disruption. The results included zero storage downtime since 2010, an estimated $75,000 in hardware savings by extending equipment life, and the ability to scale from 30 to 80 virtual machines without issues.
