Case Study: Host.net achieves hardware-independent, cost-effective cloud storage and disaster recovery with DataCore Software

A DataCore Software Case Study

Preview of the Host.net Case Study

Storage Virtualization Software In the Cloud

Host.net needed a flexible, software‑based private cloud that delivered enterprise storage, disaster recovery and hardware independence for a range of customers. To achieve this, Host.net built a virtual private data center (vPDC) using VMware for compute, Cisco Nexus networking and DataCore storage virtualization software to provide SAN virtualization, synchronous mirroring and on‑demand storage services.

DataCore’s storage virtualization was integrated into Host.net’s vPDC to enable multi‑site redundancy, hardware choice, rapid storage provisioning and a virtual disaster‑recovery capability. The DataCore‑powered platform helped Host.net sign dozens of customers within three months, removed the need for customers to incur $100,000–$200,000 SAN capital expenditures, and delivered greater storage agility and resiliency for both cloud and colocated clients.
