Quorn Foods optimises SAP, ERP & other critical Tier 1 applications; achieves structured Auto Tiering & shores up the entire Virtualised Estate

Quorn needed to replace aging physical servers and deliver rock‑solid, highly available infrastructure for SAP, ERP, RDS and other Tier‑1 applications after a 2011 divestment. Working with partner Waterstons, Quorn chose DataCore Software and its SANsymphony‑V storage‑virtualisation platform to centralise storage, enable server virtualisation and meet a 99.999% availability target.

DataCore Software deployed SANsymphony‑V as a storage hypervisor with synchronously mirrored pools and later added automated multi‑tiering (SSD/10k/7.2k tiers), supporting full VMware virtualisation and SAP consolidation. The result was dramatically higher IOPS and responsiveness, cutting data‑mining/query times from 20 minutes to 20 seconds, consolidating desktops and underpinning the virtual estate with continuous availability and better capacity planning.
