Case Study: Mission Community Hospital achieves unified, hardware-agnostic storage and high availability with DataCore Software

A DataCore Software Case Study

One Software Platform Unifies All Storage Resources

Mission Community Hospital faced fragmented, hard-to-manage storage across older direct‑attached servers and multiple arrays, with a very small IT team and limited funds. To address capacity headaches, unstable provisioning and lack of a storage strategy, the hospital turned to DataCore and its SANsymphony‑V storage virtualization software to gain a software‑defined, hardware‑agnostic approach.

DataCore implemented a two‑node SANsymphony‑V deployment (running on Dell R720 servers) that virtualized existing X‑IO, Dell Compellent and other arrays into a single, highly available platform. The result was centralized management, easier tiered purchasing, and uninterrupted care: DataCore now manages nearly 80 TB (and growing), supports 200 virtual servers on 20 hosts with 98% of servers virtualized, improved PACS and EHR performance, and eliminated downtime during data‑center changes. DataCore’s HA and virtualization capabilities also simplified operations for the hospital’s small IT staff and enabled scalable future growth.
