Homecare Homebase uses SANsymphony-V to Pool Storage, Ensure High Availability & Support an Entire Virtual Environment

Homecare Homebase, a Dallas‑based provider of web‑based software for the homecare and hospice industry, was facing rapidly growing, scattered local storage and limited NAS performance while supporting thousands of mobile, real‑time users and a Citrix/VMware virtual environment. To achieve high availability, centralized storage and better support for virtualization, Homecare Homebase turned to DataCore Software and deployed SANsymphony‑V.

DataCore Software implemented redundant, Active‑Active SANsymphony‑V pairs at Homecare Homebase’s Dallas and Louisville sites, pooling about 8 TB per site and connecting to Xiotech storage via Fibre Channel to fully back the VMware vSphere/Citrix environment. The solution enabled faster, consistent image deployment, improved VMotion (allowing mid‑day maintenance), and full HA of storage — supporting over 15,000 concurrent users and running 75 VMs in Dallas and 125 VMs in Louisville — while giving HCHB better control of hardware and a cost‑effective, highly available SAN.
