Flexible ICT infrastructure for secure maintenance operations

Adullam Foundation, a Basel-based hospital and nursing‑home operator, faced rapidly growing ICT demands—virtual servers grew from 5 to 72 and existing storage (≈6 TB mirrored) became a performance and capacity bottleneck with repeated downtime and complex administration. Seeking hardware independence and easier management, Adullam evaluated options and chose DataCore, implementing its SANsymphony software‑defined storage alongside new VMware/HP servers to modernise and future‑proof the infrastructure.

DataCore deployed SANsymphony with synchronous mirroring, auto‑tiering, high‑speed caching and non‑disruptive hardware migration (including added Fusion‑io flash), with implementation support from ITRIS. The result: a tenfold performance improvement, routine administration time cut by 90%, VM provisioning reduced from ~15 minutes to ~2 minutes, planned downtime eliminated and over 1.5 years without unplanned downtime—delivering high availability, greater flexibility and measurable cost‑effective gains.
