Community Health Network, one of the nation’s largest healthcare providers and the first all-digital hospital, faced intolerable downtime and rapidly growing storage demands as medical images and patient records ballooned. CHN needed continuous 24x7 availability, scalable capacity and the ability to migrate data without lengthy maintenance windows, so it engaged DataCore and its SANsymphony software-defined storage to meet those requirements.

DataCore implemented SANsymphony in a metro-mirrored configuration between CHN’s Carmel campus and the Lifeline data center (20 miles apart), synchronously mirroring over 450 TB across heterogeneous arrays and enabling automatic failover. The deployment allowed seamless migrations (IBM ESS/FastT/DS8100 to HDS USP‑V/AMS) with no application downtime, eliminated storage-related outages, improved application availability and utilization through caching and thin provisioning, and now supports 14,000+ users—delivering measurable continuity and better patient care.
