A DataCore Software Case Study
Colby-Sawyer College, a private baccalaureate institution in New London, N.H., faced a critical availability challenge after moving to a hybrid flash/spinning-disk array: it lost the replication and redundancy that had protected its servers and VDI environment. To restore high availability and reduce storage-related downtime the college selected DataCore and its SANsymphony‑V software‑defined storage platform.
DataCore implemented SANsymphony‑V in a synchronously mirrored, metro‑clustered configuration with auto‑tiering and centralized management, restoring real‑time redundancy between the two server rooms. As a result, DataCore enabled “always‑on” storage (one room can be taken offline with no user impact), eliminated planned downtime for upgrades and migrations, drastically cut routine storage tasks, and delivered up to a reported 10x performance increase while extending the life and flexibility of the college’s storage arrays.
