Bitburger Group, one of Germany’s largest breweries (2,100 employees across five sites), needed a fail‑safe, highly available storage solution to support business‑critical SAP R/3 and other production applications, shrink backup/restore windows to five hours, and cope with accelerated data growth. Working with system integrator Kramer & Crew, Bitburger selected DataCore’s SANsymphony virtualization software (deployed with Hitachi Thunder 9570V arrays and Commvault/Overland/Sanforce backup components) to remove single points of failure and increase performance and flexibility.

Kramer & Crew implemented DataCore SANsymphony to synchronously mirror the two Hitachi arrays, enable auto‑provisioning, snapshots and pooled capacity; after a 4‑week test the production rollout took less than four days. The DataCore‑based solution boosted uptime from 97% to 99.8%, improved SAP R/3 response times by about 5%, simplified storage administration, increased utilization and delivered near fail‑safe operation while meeting Bitburger’s backup and growth requirements.
