A Datacor Case Study
Tokyo Gas, a major natural gas provider, faced a significant challenge when expanding its high-pressure pipeline network. Before bringing a new pressure control valve online, the company needed to verify that it would not cause dangerous instability or unsafe interactions with the existing control system across its 300 km network. To solve this, they turned to Datacor and utilized the CHEMCAD dynamic simulation service to model the system in advance.
Using CHEMCAD, Datacor created a dynamic simulation of the entire pipeline network. The solution applied the Internal Model Control method to calculate optimized PID parameters before any physical commissioning. This pre-emptive modeling accurately predicted stable operations and safe valve interactions during both normal and emergency scenarios, which was later validated against actual plant data. As a result, Datacor's solution significantly reduced on-site tuning time and operational risk for Tokyo Gas.
