Workflows helps data teams scale and reduce costs

Ahold Delhaize, one of the world’s largest food retail groups, needed a faster, more scalable way to support data engineering, BI, and AI/ML across its many brands and countries. Using Databricks, including Lakeflow Jobs and Auto Loader, the company built a self-service data platform so teams could create and manage pipelines without the manual overhead of assembling and deploying them.

Databricks helped Ahold Delhaize simplify orchestration and streaming ingestion, replacing extra tooling with a smaller, easier-to-manage stack. The result was faster deployment, lower costs, and quicker access to data for teams like Etos and Albert Heijn, supporting personalization, inventory forecasting, analytics, and ML training for about 60 million weekly customers.
