GreenFlex, a European leader in environmental management services and energy efficiency, needed a simpler and more secure way to govern rapidly growing energy consumption data for analytics and machine learning. Using the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, GreenFlex faced challenges managing access across three separate workspaces and multiple storage locations, which made data availability, security, and compliance difficult.

Databricks implemented Unity Catalog to centralize access management across workspaces with one metastore and standardized SQL policies, eliminating the need for separate AWS S3 buckets and improving auditability. The result was simplified governance, better cross-workspace data access, and significantly faster query performance over terabytes of data, helping GreenFlex turn data from exploration into business intelligence and data science to support energy optimization.
