A Databricks Case Study
water-link, the main water provider for a large part of Belgium’s Antwerp province, was looking for a smarter, more sustainable way to manage water operations as it rolled out digital water meters. As Belgium’s first utility to deploy digital meters, water-link needed a data-driven approach to turn meter readings into actionable insights across customer service, field operations, and asset management, using the Databricks Lakehouse Platform.
Databricks and water-link’s project team implemented a solution that connected data intelligence, SAP workflows, Power BI, Azure Functions, and an API layer to automate business processes and alert handling. The result was more than 20 use cases delivered across the organization, the ability to prioritize and act on hundreds of thousands of alerts per day instead of just a dozen, faster customer support through a 360-degree service desk cockpit, and 24/7 monitoring that helps prevent leaks and major damage.
