Case Study: Vattenfall achieves unified, high-speed analytics with Databricks

Next Generation Business Intelligence

Vattenfall, one of Germany’s largest utilities and a leading European power producer, needed to replace multiple separate on-premises systems and build a modern data and analytics platform to support its hydropower business and fossil-free goals. Working with Databricks, it launched the Hydro Strategic Business Analysis Platform (HySBAP) to unify data and enable faster, better business intelligence.

Databricks delivered a lakehouse-based architecture with Databricks Repos and Azure DevOps for Git-based development, CI/CD, and DevOps automation. The new platform gave Vattenfall a unified view of its data, enabled advanced analytics and new ML and drone-use cases, and improved development speed and data quality at the same time.
