Hawaiian Electric Company (HECO) needed a better way to manage a large volume of regulatory documents and respond to information requests more efficiently. Its regulatory team spent too much time manually searching and cross-referencing extensive documentation, slowing down compliance work and operational decision-making. HECO turned to Databricks and the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to address this challenge.

Using Databricks, HECO built a retrieval augmented generation (RAG) chatbot proof of concept to surface relevant regulatory information in real time. The solution made it easier to answer questions accurately and quickly, cutting response time from minutes to seconds and improving both efficiency and accuracy for the regulatory team.
