Lakehouse Empowers CareSource to Operate from a Single Source of Data to Provide Better Healthcare to Members

CareSource, one of the nation’s largest Medicaid managed care plans, was struggling to keep up with rapid growth as its legacy data systems couldn’t handle increasing member and data volumes. The company needed a modern cloud-based platform that could scale, improve performance, and eliminate the manual “band-aid” fixes required to keep daily operations running.

Using the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform on Azure, CareSource built a modern lakehouse architecture with Databricks notebooks and Databricks SQL, creating a single source of truth and more efficient analytics workflows. The results included automated invoice reconciliation accurate to the penny, faster and more intuitive analysis, and a foundation for predictive models such as high-risk pregnancy flagging that can trigger proactive nurse outreach—improving operational efficiency and enabling better member care.
