How Providence Health Built a Model marketplace using Databricks

Providence, a large healthcare organization with 120,000 caregivers across more than 50 hospitals and 1,000 clinics, needed a better way to deploy and govern a rapidly growing inventory of AI/ML models and fine-tuned LLMs across 65+ Databricks workspaces. With Databricks and its MLflow-based MLOps platform, Providence faced the challenge of making high-demand models easy to find and use while reducing governance complexity.

Databricks helped Providence build “Providence’s Model Marketplace,” a centralized workspace that automatically exports approved production models from distributed workspaces and imports them into one curated repository. The solution enabled caregivers to access models from a single location, streamlined model governance, and gave Providence a secure, fully automated foundation for future LLM deployment; after implementation, the Providence team was able to seamlessly take over, use, and continue improving the platform.
