Case Study: Joby Aviation achieves sub-five-second telemetry ingestion with Databricks

A Databricks Case Study

Preview of the Joby Aviation Case Study

From factory to flight, reimagined for the future

Joby Aviation is reimagining electric air travel, but its multi-site factories and high-volume flight telemetry created a data-ingestion challenge. Its legacy, multi-hop pipeline caused delays, duplicated data, and operational complexity, making it hard to turn factory and flight signals into real-time action. Joby turned to Databricks, using Zerobus Ingest as part of Lakeflow Connect to simplify and scale ingestion across its operations.

With Databricks, Joby now streams gigabytes of telemetry per minute from thousands of devices directly into the lakehouse with sub-five-second delivery. The new architecture removed brittle pipelines and extra hops, reducing overhead and enabling faster decisions, tighter feedback loops, and better support for dashboards, AI agents, analytics, and compliance workflows.
