A Databricks Case Study

Preview of the Worldline Case Study

Enabling real-time insights for smarter merchant decisions

Worldline, a leading European payment processor, needed to unify a fragmented data landscape created by acquisitions and legacy on-premises systems. The company wanted to improve business intelligence, real-time reporting, and machine learning for use cases like churn prediction and anomaly detection, and it partnered with Databricks to help manage more than 50 billion transactions across 50 countries.

Databricks implemented a scalable data platform built on Apache Spark, Delta Lake, the medallion architecture, Unity Catalog, MLflow, and integration with Power BI. This gave Worldline centralized, secure, real-time access to data, improved collaboration for 85+ data engineers and 200 analysts, and reduced infrastructure costs by €200,000 per month while enabling faster analytics and better fraud detection capabilities.
