A Databricks Case Study
Children’s National Medical Center, a leading pediatric hospital in Washington, D.C., was struggling with fragmented data systems that slowed reporting, limited research, and made it hard for staff to quickly find policies and procedures. Researchers were also constrained by model training on individual laptops, which made collaboration difficult and delayed insights. The hospital turned to Databricks and the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform, including tools such as Mosaic AI, Databricks AI/BI, Delta Lake, and Unity Catalog.
Databricks helped Children’s National unify data, build GenAI applications like Spotlight AI for onboarding and accreditation, and scale predictive analytics for staffing and patient care. The results were dramatic: model training time dropped from months to minutes, document lookup became instantaneous, and staff reported faster access to information with improved workflow efficiency. Databricks also enabled secure governance and reproducible ML development, supporting better pediatric outcomes and faster, more reliable clinical decision-making.
