A Databricks Case Study
Philadelphia Union, the Major League Soccer club, needed a better way to manage huge volumes of player and match data from multiple sources for recruitment, scouting, injury prevention, and in-game analysis. Before Databricks, the team relied on Excel spreadsheets, OneDrive, and laptops to combine and transform data, making reporting slow, manual, and error-prone, with a single report taking 6 or more hours to produce.
Databricks implemented the Databricks Data Intelligence Platform to centralize the Union’s data and streamline analytics across historical and real-time performance metrics. As a result, Philadelphia Union gained faster access to insights for coaches and analysts, improved decision-making on and off the field, and built a stronger data-driven competitive advantage for player performance and team strategy.
