Case Study: Vancouver Public Schools modernizes cloud learning with Data Networks

A Data Networks Case Study

Preview of the Vancouver Public Schools Case Study

Vancouver Public Schools - Customer Case Study

Vancouver Public Schools, one of Washington State’s largest K-12 districts, needed to replace its outdated Novell-based email, identity, and learning infrastructure with a modern cloud environment. The district wanted a better platform for teachers and students, but also had to manage aging systems, unsupported software, and a very aggressive timeline for the start of the school year. Data Networks was brought in to help modernize the district’s education technology stack.

Data Networks designed and delivered a cloud-based migration that ultimately centered on Google Workspace, alongside Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, Dell VxRail, and supporting infrastructure. When the project scope shifted midstream from Microsoft 365 to Google Workspace, Data Networks adapted quickly, even building a custom application to move and transform identity data from Novell databases into Active Directory and Google Workspace. The project was completed on time for the 2022-2023 school year, archived data was migrated with a 99.8% success rate, and the district reported a smooth transition with Google Workspace becoming its most used and least complex application.
