St. Mary’s County Public Schools - Customer Case Study

St. Mary’s County Public Schools partnered with Data Networks to support its STEM academy by securing wireless access for 60 grant-funded laptops used across classrooms. The district wanted to give students mobile learning access while protecting student privacy and preventing unauthorized wireless access and attacks. Data Networks recommended Juniper’s Unified Access Control (UAC) to address those wireless security and access control concerns.

Data Networks deployed Juniper UAC at two schools, Spring Ridge Middle School and Great Mills High School, using the IC4000, 802.1X-enabled wireless access points and switches, a RADIUS server tied to Microsoft Active Directory, and a downloadable UAC agent with Host Checker for endpoint health checks. The solution let St. Mary’s roll out a one-to-one wireless learning program with strong security, while leveraging existing network infrastructure without modification and keeping deployment phased and straightforward.
