St. Mary’s College of Maryland, a liberal arts college with about 1,700 students, was running its virtual environment on aging Dell infrastructure that included EqualLogic SAN arrays nearing end-of-life and a Cisco Catalyst switch that created a single point of failure. The college turned to Data Networks to help modernize its VMware-based environment while preserving existing investments.

Data Networks replaced the legacy storage with four Dell EMC VxRail all-flash appliances and added Juniper 10Gbps uplink modules to improve redundancy and performance. The project was completed in just one week, and SMCM reported significantly improved VM administration throughput, with the new all-flash VxRail platform expected to support growth for more than five years.
