New Hanover Public Schools - Customer Case Study

New Hanover Public Schools, a 43-school system in southeastern North Carolina, was managing more than 13,500 desktop and laptop machines with just six dedicated technology staff members. With 158 images at the technology offices, additional site-specific images across 46 sites, and constant software updates, the team faced long troubleshooting times and heavy driver-related workload. Data Networks stepped in to help address these image management challenges using Novell ZENworks and ENGL Imaging Toolkit.

Data Networks implemented Novell ZENworks, ENGL Imaging Toolkit, and LDAP authentication to standardize and secure image management, while phase scripts were used to lock down and customize images. The solution improved the efficiency of image and software delivery, reduced access to images, and cut costs by freeing up staff time for other priorities. As a result, New Hanover Public Schools could deploy new hardware in just a few hours instead of spending hours searching for drivers, with Data Networks helping improve security and overall IT productivity.
