James Sprunt Community College worked with Data Networks after its aging campus network began causing performance and scalability problems. The college also faced a unique installation challenge because some switch racks were permanently wall-mounted, making replacement of the existing switching infrastructure more complicated. Data Networks recommended a modern LAN and wireless upgrade using Juniper Networks hardware, including EX4550 and EX4200 switches, 10GE backbone connectivity, PoE+, and 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless access points.

Data Networks designed, staged, and tested the new environment at its configuration center before deploying it onsite, then coordinated after-hours cutovers to minimize disruption. The project included detailed network documentation, wireless planning, configuration replication through JUNOS Space, and knowledge transfer to JSCC staff. As a result, James Sprunt Community College gained a faster, more scalable network with improved headroom to support student programs well into the future, while avoiding outages during the wireless rollout and limiting campus impact during the switch replacement.
