Darwin EDI solution ensures continued trade links with Ford

Burrenkopf, a Cologne-based manufacturer and wholesaler of oils and lubricants founded in 1945, supplies industry customers including Ford. When Ford required a move from its web portal to mandatory integrated EDI with encrypted document exchange, Burrenkopf—who did not have an EDI solution and outsourced IT—faced the risk of losing its trading relationship.

Following Ford’s recommendation, Burrenkopf implemented Data Interchange’s Darwin desktop EDI solution, which supported Ford’s EDI processes out of the box and enabled receipt of orders and forecasts, transmission of ASNs, and generation of paperwork and transport labels. The system was installed and handed over in two days, removing manual portal work, cutting administration and supply-chain costs, and ensuring Burrenkopf could continue as a Tier‑1 supplier and meet future EDI demands.
