Bolta finds EDI solution with Data Interchange

Bolta US, the Tuscaloosa-based subsidiary of German polymer manufacturer Bolta Werke, opened in 2013 as a storage and trading hub and quickly won contracts with Volkswagen Group and Plastic Omnium. Those contracts required mandated EDI (including OFTP2) to exchange forecasts and advanced shipment notices; after an initial vendor failed to deliver an OFTP2-ready solution, Bolta US faced a two-month deadline and risked being unable to trade.

Data Interchange delivered a bespoke, standalone OFTP2-capable EDI solution within two months, deploying Odex Enterprise and the Darwin order-processing platform, liaising daily with Volkswagen and staging remote deployments. The system enabled short- and long-term forecasts to flow to plants in Mexico and Germany and generated ASNs for customers, went live in July 2015, met the trading deadlines, and helped Bolta US retain favored supplier status while supporting high-volume production (about 1,000,000 injection-moulded components per week).
