A Data Innovation Case Study

Preview of the UNC Rex Healthcare Case Study

UNC Rex Healthcare automates 2,000 PAPs and 1,100 HPVs per month with Data Innovation

UNC Rex Healthcare, a non-profit healthcare organization, faced the challenge of manually managing and matching HPV results with PAP requisitions and interpretations. This inefficient process created a bottleneck in diagnostics. To address this, UNC Rex partnered with vendor Data Innovations to develop an automated solution for generating a consolidated report.

The solution implemented by Data Innovations was an LIS-agnostic platform that integrated molecular instruments with both the Clinical and Anatomical Laboratory Information Systems. This automation eliminated manual data entry, managed reflex testing based on specific criteria, and notified staff to prepare samples for molecular testing. As a result, Data Innovations helped UNC Rex Healthcare achieve significantly improved efficiency and better diagnostics services for more positive patient outcomes.
