A Data Innovation Case Study
The Trivergent Health Alliance Management Services Organization, a group of three non-profit hospital labs in Maryland, faced the challenge of operating independently while needing to share resources and reduce high reference laboratory costs. To address this, they partnered with vendor Data Innovation and implemented Atlas Medical’s Multi-Lab Networking, integrated with Data Innovations’ Instrument Manager middleware.
The solution implemented by Data Innovation enabled the labs to integrate their equipment and create a shared diagnostic community. This allowed them to insource 60 to 70 tests previously sent out, reducing turnaround time by up to 50%. As a result, Trivergent reduced its reference lab costs by an average of 60%, saving $2.5 million over three years, and eliminated labor costs associated with reaccessioning specimens between hospitals.
