The customer, a Fortune 100 multinational beverage corporation, faced significant challenges from unstructured data sprawl across its European data centers. This dark data, along with high storage and maintenance costs, created risk and a lack of actionable insights. To address this, they partnered with vendor Data Dynamics to gain control over their environment and facilitate a cloud migration.

Data Dynamics, using its StorageX platform, performed a metadata analysis that identified 40 TB of obsolete data for deletion. The remaining 160 TB of data was then migrated to the IBM cloud in a single, efficient operation. This solution allowed the customer to exit three on-premise data centers, resulting in a 20% reduction in storage costs and a more optimized, modernized data infrastructure.
