Yantai Raffles Shipyard (YRS) PLM helps shipyard collaborate, compete on a global scale

Yantai Raffles Shipyard faced frequent rework, lengthy physical prototyping and mismatched CAD data that delayed construction and increased costs. To address this, the yard adopted an IBM PLM platform that uses Dassault Systemes software—primarily CATIA V5 and ENOVIA (ENOVIA LCA and ENOVIA Portal 3d.com)—to create full 3D virtual models and enable real‑time collaboration across customers, partners and suppliers.

Dassault Systemes’ CATIA and ENOVIA solutions produced complete digital mockups and centralized product data, allowing Yantai Raffles Shipyard to detect issues before fabrication, reduce change orders and streamline processes. The result was substantial ROI through lower material costs and improved quality, much less rework and faster delivery cycles, and customer confidence high enough that a Fortune 500 client endorsed YRS for participation in a $1.7 billion project.
