A Dassault Systemes Case Study
WD-40 Company France, the maker of the iconic WD-40 multi‑use lubricant, needed to accelerate European expansion by improving category management and in‑store recognition of its product lines. Constrained by legacy 2D planogram tools, the company sought a more visual, flexible solution to help sales teams present merchandising proposals and convince retailers to adopt consistent, high‑impact shelf layouts. WD-40 selected Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and its Perfect Shelf industry solution to address this challenge.
Using Dassault Systemes’ cloud-based Perfect Shelf, WD-40 built realistic 3D store environments and tailored planograms that can be shared across European teams and converted to/from third‑party formats. The immersive, tablet‑ready visuals and virtual shopper simulations sped up retailer buy‑in, lowered execution costs versus paper plans, and produced positive feedback from the sales force—enabling faster promotion of new products and broader rollout of merchandising recommendations to more points of sale.
