University of Patras - LMS, the Laboratory for Manufacturing Systems & Automation, needed to optimize European vehicle assembly processes and design a cooperating two-robot welding cell that minimized fixtures and avoided collisions. To tackle this challenge they turned to Dassault Systemes and its 3DEXPERIENCE applications, notably DELMIA and 3DVIA, for digital manufacturing and virtual prototyping.

Using Dassault Systemes’ DELMIA and 3DVIA (and ENOVIA for data management), LMS simulated robot trajectories, validated collision-free configurations, and ran VR experiments to spot design issues early. The digital solution cut physical implementation time, enabled interference detection, and delivered a measurable 3% reduction in the robotic cell cycle time while improving collaboration and design iteration speed.
