Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI‑Arc), a world‑renowned independent architecture school in downtown Los Angeles devoted to radical innovation, needed next‑generation tools to train architects who can bridge design and production. Faculty member Kerenza Harris turned to Dassault Systemes, deploying the cloud‑based 3DEXPERIENCE platform to overcome the limitations of non‑parametric software and give students modern, industry‑grade capabilities.

Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform (including the 3DSwYm collaboration app and CATIA for VR) delivered parametric modeling, cloud access and team collaboration that let students create intelligent models with preserved iterative histories, build AR/VR experiences and work remotely on shared projects. The implementation has broadened hands‑on learning for SCI‑Arc’s community (about 500 students), produced tangible projects like Mars‑habitat prototypes, improved design‑to‑fabrication workflows, and better prepared students for professional practice.
