Rolls-Royce uses Isight for simulation process automation and design optimization of aircraft engine turbomachinery

Rolls-Royce, a leading gas turbine and aircraft engine manufacturer, faced the challenge of designing highly complex turbomachinery that must meet strict performance, reliability and cost targets across many operating conditions while shortening development cycles. To manage multidisciplinary aerodynamic, structural and manufacturing constraints and reduce redesign iterations, Rolls-Royce adopted Dassault Systemes’ Isight for simulation process integration, automation and optimization.

Using Dassault Systemes’ Isight, Rolls-Royce built drag-and-drop workflows, custom components and templates to link CFD, FEA, CAD and optimization methods (DOE, Monte Carlo, genetic/gradient algorithms) into automated design loops for meanline, throughflow and 3D blading. The Isight-driven process cut a typical design iteration from about a day to roughly 13 minutes, significantly reducing redesign work, improving control over manufacturing costs and enabling faster, higher-quality delivery.
